"I applied two coats of GF Dye Stain in Light Brown to clear white pine boards, then used a sponge brush to lay down two coats of GF Java Gel Stain. After the stain dried, I used a clean cloth dipped in denatured alcohol to pull away some of the darker areas to reveal the amber-brown tones created by the Dye Stain. Instead of using a traditional topcoat I rubbed in a coat of beeswax. I love your products and we love our new beam." - Mary Schiff

"I bought a ponderosa pine slab, made for cabinets, from Home Depot to use as a writing table surface in my office. I ADORE the look of dye stain under gel stain. Dye stain highlights the woodgrain and provides a unique undertone when used under gel stain. The wood has a warm, glowing look and feel that I love! I look forward to writing at this table every morning, especially at sunrise." -Jamie Finish schedule over prep-sanded raw pine wood: 2 coats of Amber Dye Stain 1 coat of a 2:1 mix of...

The Painted Drawer_ refinished this classic yet stylish table. "I used General Finishes Dye Stain in Amber as a first coat. After the dye stain dried, I used General Finishes Gel Stain in Nutmeg over it. The result is really lovely. The amber dye stain peeks out from under the nutmeg and gives the wood dimension and a great play of color. After it cured for a few days, I used the GF gel topcoat, wipe-on urethane in satin. Mary Schiff says, "It's been a while since I posted anything. Because of the cold weather and my unheated shop, I haven't been able to spray anything. I don't mind painting by hand, but topcoats are just not as smooth on large pieces. So, saying that, here is a bookcase I have been working on. The paint still needs a sealer but it will have to wait a bit longer. I love your products, GF!
