Persian Blue Dresser

About This Post

I was drawn to this dresser because of the combination of drawers and doors. It was covered in layers of sloppily applied paint and I originally just planned to refresh the paint. However, as I was prepping and lightly sanding, I noticed these vertical lines on the drawer fronts coming through the paint. After sanding the drawers more heavily, the wood panels were revealed and my vision began to take shape. I started with a couple of fresh coats of Persian Blue Milk paint. I followed that with Van Dyke brown glaze to give the dresser more dimension and an aged appearance. I knew I wanted to give the doors a little extra pop, so I used handmade paper that I found in a fair trade store nearby to decopage the door fronts. The wood design details were refinished using gel stain in walnut. The entire peice was finished with several coats of satin top coat.
