I've spent a week working on the 100+ year old white Italian marble.
Although still a faint shadow...a million times improvement.
These pieces have had a life, a journey and sometimes there's a "hiccup" along the way.
The mark was left from the original wood top piece that sat on the marble for years. (It was NOT an attractive top piece and the mirror was too far gone to save BUT those items are safely stored to be reincarnated at a future time)

Large buffet made by Mount Airy Furniture Company of North Carolina. This high end piece is made of solid mahogany. The drawers slide perfectly. The doors open onto a large space that runs the width of the buffet. (No shelves) The drawers are dovetailed and the drawer boxes are all wood. It is a very well made piece of furniture.

First and foremost…it is GINORMOUS!! Second of all it’s OLD. It is primitive and has loads of character!! I can only imagine the stories that it could tell!
I wanted to retain a lot of its original character and keep it somewhat primitive. I wanted this piece to look old but still fit into a modern home. Black never fails. Black suits this cupboard, don’t you agree?

I think this beauty deserves a post on its own. I received several messages/comments asking me why would I paint a antique. First, this is not a antique, it dates back to the 50’s.
