Millstone

This sweet little chest of drawers was created with...

"We had this Uber ugly Thomasville buffet base….. it was a China cabinet and we ditched the top completely. We pulled off all that scrolly trim and sanded out every square inch of that body. Up on 4” steel feet for the needed height. Voila! There she is! General Finishes Millstone in a wash to neutralize that oak! GF Lamp Black on the doors. Sealed in High Performance Topcoat satin." - Restoration Reserve
"At long last this pine beauty is complete! A full restoration was performed on this rustic chest and new life it has been given! This piece belonged to my clients Grandmother, likely dating back to the 1800’s with it’s hand cut dovetail joints. It has certainly stood the test of time having been moved numerous times, but nonetheless was in need of some TLC. My client asked for it to be lightened up and made functional and that is just what I did! I started by sanding back the existing...
"I knew what I wanted to do with it the minute I spotted it. Lots of love went into this one. It went from outdated orange to rustic and relevant. Here’s the skinny: Stripped with Citristrip, Sanded completely x 2, Bleached x 2, Cleaned x 3, Paint washed x 2 with General Finishes Milk Paint in Millstone, Sealed in Flat out Flat water based topcoat by General Finishes." - Sue’s Vintage Creations
"This vintage hutch is painted in GF Empire Gray and for the darker shade is a mix of Lamp Black and Empire Gray, and black glazed throughout. The inside is painted a mix of Antique White & Millstone by General Finishes. I added flowers and butterflies as this reminds my client of her mom. Sometimes furniture holds memories of times and people and those are the pieces we treasure the most. And I’m happy and honored to paint this piece for my client that now she will keep in her home and...
"100% Solid maple inside and out, this set is in AMAZING condition! Sanded completely down to bare wood. Then applied a diluted wash of General Finishes Millstone & Alabaster Milk Paint to keep the wood light and natural once sealant was applied. Updated the original wood hardware to black." - Elm Street Designs

This modern dresser has been freshly painted in Millstone and White for a dipped look. The dresser has been sealed with multiple layers of High Performance top coat for durability.

"Top stripped and sanded down beautifully. Look at that grain pattern! Stained in a custom mix of Jacobean and Hazelwood. Body refinished in a 50/50 mix of General Finishes Alabaster and Millstone. Slightly distressed. Kept the original hardware." - Elm Street Designs
"Who can go wrong with adding bleached oak chairs to their kitchen or dining space? And can we talk about that fabric! Stain and moisture resistant indoor/outdoor with an ultra thick yet still soft feel. Aged with a General Finishes Millstone Milk Paint wash which is our new favorite way to treat oak! Matte clear finish." - Restoration Reserve
"Painted in General Finishes Millstone and Queenstown Gray Milk Paint. In the popular dipped technique." - Revived Creations by Autumn
"The base of this was damaged and ended up being particle board so I removed the entire bottom and rebuilt it with cleaner lines. Added vintage metal feet that I repurposed from an old project. Top sanded down beautifully so I stained it in General Finishes Flint Liquid Oil Stain. Body refinished in a custom mix of GF Millstone and Reverent Gray creating an off white/beige with subtle hints of gray. The perfect neutral to compliment any decor. Original hardware updated to black to match feet...
"I absolutely adore this set. I’m not going to lie- I contemplated painting these for a few weeks but I just couldn’t bring myself to! True old oak is becoming SO hard to find and good quality wood shouldn’t be covered up in my opinion. Old growth white oak….. so while they did have some of that natural honey color, we had to subdue- I couldn’t be more thrilled with how these updated onto a traditional yet very versatile style! Translucent in General Finishes Millstone Milk Paint- created...
"There is something so classic and timeless about beige. So many shades, so much possibility. I doubt I'll ever tire of it! To create this look we used: General Finishes Millstone (10 parts) to Lamp Black (1 part). Fine weave cane, antique brass hardware and Tempaper liners." - Saved By Design

Gorgeous solid wood dresser/buffet with loads of storage! This would be a gorgeous tv console and if I don’t get rid of it fast, it might be MY gorgeous tv console! Complete farmhouse transformation for this piece. Top stripped and sanded to bare wood, base painted in...

"New hardware, new base, new legs, fresh paint and stain. This dresser looks completely different now! So much more modern. Paint color: Lamp Black by General Finishes. Stain: Water Based Walnut by General Finishes" - Flipping Unbelievable
Have I told you how much I love chartreuse?? This old girl needed a refresh! She was solid structurally but looked tired. Once I got the old finish off the top, I knew that I wanted to keep it wood. And I loved the wood details on the top drawer so that just had to be wood as well. I tried taping off the details fifty ways to Sunday to protect them from the paint but I just ended up with a lot of wasted tape. I remembered when I first started this business, people were using Vaseline as a...
"Believe me when I say, I tried EVERYTHING to find a spot for this beauty in my house. I purchased this piece from Habitat for Humanity Restore and instantly thought bar cart, but this piece is so versatile that you could use it as a coffee bar, a media stand, a plant stand, even a mobile book shelf. The entire piece was paint washed in General Finishes Millstone, this color is easily becoming one of my favorite neutrals! Even the Folk II Transfer from Re·design with Prima received a paint wash...
These end tables were very dated and the orange finish was failing. If you remember from a post a few days ago, I ended up removing the entire finish down to bare wood. We also added a plain piece of trim to cover the detail work that was on the front to make them more modern and up to date. I started the refinishing with two coats of shellac to seal the wood and block the wood tannins from coming through my finish. I still wasn’t sure what direction I was going with these tables but because...
We don't just refinish furniture, we transform it. Being able to combine natural recycled rattan with true mid century craftsmanship is always a yes in our world. If you think this set looks familiar to you, you're right! The cane hutch we did a few months back is the mate to this set. I never thought I'd find another piece as classy as that hutch, and then I found this stunning (and MATCHING) set! The legs alone are classic mid century modern with a relaxed boho vibe. Made by American of...
"The cane addition added so much texture and interest to this design. To create this look: •General Finishes Millstone Milk Paint cane webbing http://www.caneandbasket.com/ •Brasso Metal Polish •Rustoleum Pure Gold spray paint if you have a piece of brass that is too pitted to polish. •Klean Strip stripper for the raw wood accents •Earlex 5500 HVLP sprayer for the smoothest finish" - Saved By Design   Foducts
"It didn't take long to go from 80s drab to clean modern upgrade. Inspired by Pottery Barn's gorgeous cane line. Designed with simplicity in mind, they have been finished in the classic GF Millstone with minimalist finger pull knobs, solid wood contemporary legs and organic cane." - Saved By Design
These took FOREVER. But I was determined to keep the wood in its natural state and not just slap some paint on them. 100% solid maple wood. (Some outer trim on drawers is polar, but majority is maple. Top row of drawers has gorgeous maple burl accents) Stripped twice, then sanded. Hours upon hours of hand sanding all the grooves, nooks and crannies. I’m now sporting bandaids on 3 fingers due to so much sanding. Fun fact: sanded, raw wood is absolutely gorgeous but the minute you go to...
"Refinished in General Finishes Millstone. Distressed in all the right places using denatured alcohol technique. Sealed in GF top coat in flat. Original hardware updated to oil rubbed bronze." - Elm Street Designs
"I stripped the top, which is laminate, and gave it an extra heavy sand with 80 grit sandpaper. Usually 220 is sufficient but this was extra slick. The paint was adhering well to the body so I gave it a really good sand and gave the entire piece three coats of primer, checked for adhesion issues and everything was sticking. The paint color is a custom light, warm gray. I used General Finishes Snow White and Antique White in equal parts (1 cup each) and added a little Perfect Gray (1/8 cup)...
" I used General Finishes Millstone Milk Paint with Van Dyke Brown Glaze Effects and Burnished Pearl Effects accents." - Ivory & Oak
"Finally finished with this beautiful French desk. Hand painted in General Finishes Millstone. The top was sanded down and stained in Pecan and sealed for protection. New pulls added for an upscale classic look. This desk is made by Drexel, so you know it’s made to last. I love this color. Perfect fall time color" - Vintage Actually Decor

The result is a very pretty teal/gray/baby blue. I added some GF Winter White Glaze Effects over it and lightly distressed to create a worn, layered look. Some fun wallpaper on the back completes the look!" - Elm Street Designs

"Super adorable farmhouse chic vintage hutch! I just love the European cottage vibe this look gives! So much labor and love went into creating this special look. "These end tables were a yard sale find from a few months ago. They had a smooth factory finish on them and a dated 1980's faux stain. Using General Finishes Millstone Milk Paint and Winter White Glaze Effects, they are now looking much more neutral, coastal and updated to be loved again for years to come!" - Eight Hundred Furniture, LLC.
