"This ash coffee table had been well loved and in serious need of restoration. The base was a bit wobbly so using The Gorilla Glue Company wood glue, I applied to the affected area. I clamped the base and removed the excess glue with a blue shop cloth. After letting the glue dry overnight, prepared to paint by cleaning the base and taping to avoid paint getting all over the underside. I painted using my trusty Annie Sloan’s Athenian Black and sealing with her clear wax. The top was sanded...
"Another custom set of cornhole boards for a couple where one is from Seattle and one is from San Francisco. I love the way this set came out and the bags by West Georgia Cornhole were perfect. I used General Finishes Gel Stains in Black, Ash Gray and of course New Pine that I mixed with Mixol tints to get just the right colors!" - Greg's Boards and More

"Onyx. She's a dark beauty that had a fantastic old world look, but with a blend of Maple and Oak (neither stain the same). We decided she needed something more so we took her down the bold route!   Refreshed with a dramatic Black Gel Stain by General Finishes and sealed in our favorite hand applied Arm-R-Seal in Gloss and Satin after a gentle edge distress to show off those curves!" - Restoration Reserve
"It’s no secret that navy & gold is one of my favorite combos, so you know I was excited when my customer chose those colors for her heirloom china cabinet. This special piece has been in her husband's family and they love it, but the dated orange finish didn’t complement their beautifully decorated home. One thing that was important to my customer, is that we showed off some of the wood and stain it in a less orange, more brown finish. We decided to paint the body, and then refinish the...

Sugar Pine bottle openers: Black, Java & Gray Gel Stain

"I love a good before and after, don’t you?! My client’s brother made this for her back when he was in high school and she’s kept it all these years. Isn’t that the sweetest?! It’s gotten a darker and richer stain along with new glass pulls. This was a 70/30 mix of General Finishes Antique Walnut & Black Gel Stain. Finished off with General Finishes Arm-R-Seal in Satin."
"This 6 drawer antique piece received a full refinish in deep GF Tobacco Water Based Stain.   Stunning hand applied three dimensional raised floral finish added to all 6 drawer fronts with an antique wash of General Finishes Lamp Black on the floral followed by slight hand rubbing of GF Black Gel Stain to "age" and deepen some areas to allow the beautiful wood tones to show through."
"Did something a little different because variety is the spice of life, right?! Loving how this super sleek and moody piece turned out! The contrast of the petite knobs that coordinate with the (practically indestructible) Formica top are simple yet oh so elegant. Color~ General Finishes Gel Stain in Black and sealed with 2 coats of Arm-R-Seal Gloss for clarity and a final coat of Satin for a beautiful subtle glow✨"

This hutch received an update while staying true to the client's decor.  Refinished in Black Stain with the doors and drawers done in Antique Oak, a two tone combination challenging the outdated stigma that black and brown can pair well together.

The bones of this kitchen are amazing, we just needed to add paint and glaze to make it brighter, and custom to the clients decor. The outer cabinets had Antique white and Van Dyke Brown glaze and the hutch and island had several layers of glaze. And when I say layers, it was 7 and that doesn’t include priming and sealing. Yikes, we sure did need an arm massage at the end of this one!

"When I started on this 102 year old Empire dresser I would never have guessed it would end up like this! This gorgeous ribbon veneer was hidden from the world under a deep opaque cherry stain for far too long.   My client had a preferred color but also understood that wood furniture can have a mind (and color) of its own, and old finishes can penetrate so deep that sometimes you aren’t left with a lot of options. I am pleased to report that my hours of stripping and sanding paid off and...
"General Finishes Black Gel Stain on bare walnut veneer = this gorgeous tone." - That FlippinFurniture Girl
"This beautiful burled walnut vintage chest was refinished in a custom toner to preserve and deepen the beautiful grain. It was created using General Finishes Black water based stain and HPTC, in a 1:4 ratio. The body was painted in GF Queenstown Gray Milk Paint." Mettle Modern Design
"This was stained with General Finishes American Walnut then got a light coat of Black Gel Stain- I say light because I was impatient and didn't wait the recommended time & my first coat of Arm-R-Seal took quite a bit of the black off. The tops then got 3 coats of Arm-R-Seal Satin, my favorite topcoat!" - Flipping Fabulous
Beautiful hand crafted farmhouse table by Edge Grain Wood Studio.   "Your products are top notch! For the legs, Lamp Black for base coat, 1 coat of Driftwood, distressed, sanded, then 3 coats High Performance Topcoat. Top and seat, 2 coats Weathered Gray Water Based stain. Sealed, stained with Black Water Based Stain, lightly distressed, 4 coats HPTC."

Side by Side comparison of GF Gray, Black, Antique Walnut, Java and Brown Mahogany Gel Stains.

"Decided to do away with the dated carpeted wood stairs and go with a modern jet black and and white look. For the black, we used General Finishes Gel Stain with the General Finishes High Performance flat as the top coat, which gave the treads a painted look while allowing the natural wood grain to show. The white was Sherwin-Williams Pro Classic Semi Gloss. As first timers using General Finishes Gel Stain, the products were great to work with and the results speak for themselves!" - Burge...
"I cannot be more thrilled with how this piece turned out! This gorgeous vintage dresser was refinished using General Finishes Black Gel Stain and Seagull Gray Milk Paint. All of the details were accented with Pitch Black Glaze Effects and the original pulls were used to add the final touches." - Painted Paradise, by Duke Interiors and Restoration

Stunning tiger oak quarter sawn antique dining table finished with General Finishes Black Gel Stain.   "This 100 year old table and I have been on quite the journey. A new client was in love with her recently purchased antique tiger oak table’s structure and bones, but not so much the orangish brown finish. She was hoping for a unique murky black finish with lots of pop from the figured wood. Together, my client and I learned that this oak table has a brown soul. Believe it or not, the...
"This beautiful girl is 100% GF products! Linen Milk Paint and a custom blend of gel stains... Black, Nutmeg and Antique Walnut. And of course HPTC in Satin to protect her new finish. Why not just use Java for a deep rich color? Because these older veneers love to pull red and that’s not the look I designed for my client.
"The drawers, doors and top were sanded bare prior to staining. A quick wipe of mineral spirits was also done to help my gel stain glide on more evenly. (I learned...

My client has a huge Harry Potter crush and wanted a dresser for her son's room that would provide storage for a growing boy but also a splash of colour. I suggested using the House colours as inspiration and here is the final result. She was thrilled and no spells were put on me! Phew!

"This vintage 100+ year old paw foot table is complete and ready for delivery! The base of the table was painted in General Finishes Driftwood Milk Paint and topped with Pitch Black Glaze for contrast. This table is made of quartersawn oak. So to not lose the beautiful grain of the wood we opted for General Finishes Black Gel Stain for the top. The gel stain darkened the look to suit the clients color preferences while preserving that lovely tiger oak grain we love!" - Twig & Thyme Design...
