Antique Walnut + Black Gel Stain Coffee Table

About This Post

"This ash coffee table had been well loved and in serious need of restoration. The base was a bit wobbly so using The Gorilla Glue Company wood glue, I applied to the affected area. I clamped the base and removed the excess glue with a blue shop cloth. After letting the glue dry overnight, prepared to paint by cleaning the base and taping to avoid paint getting all over the underside. I painted using my trusty Annie Sloan’s Athenian Black and sealing with her clear wax. The top was sanded using my DEWALT random orbital sander to uncover this natural grain and wood lines. For the stain, I mixed a 1:1 ratio of General Finishes Black & Antique Walnut Gel Stain. I loved how the rich the colour came out but knew I wanted to finish with a *slightly* lighter colour. I applied a second coat of Antique Walnut. For any high use areas (tables, top of dressers, sideboards), I always apply 3 coats of General Finishes High Performance Topcoat. From tired to modern, this coffee table just needed a little bit of love." - Kristin Lia Restoration
