I think this beauty deserves a post on its own. I received several messages/comments asking me why would I paint a antique. First, this is not a antique, it dates back to the 50’s. Secondly, WHY the heck not! It doesn’t hurt the value, in my case, it raises the value. I have yet lost money painting anything

"Not every roadside find turns out to be real wood and this is exactly what I encountered with these. Composite materials don’t stain well or consistently but I promised my client I would do my best to achieve the wood look he was after.

"Coined in the 1940s, English Country House design is popular as ever as this new century progresses.
It's simple and casual style carries an elegance that one can actually feel at home in and it doesn't take itself too seriously. A mix of antique and vintage furnishings, patterned textiles, rugs, table lamps, flowers, a pinch of modern accessories and the classic hunting artwork - the more the better really. It embraces wear and tear, and it's the furthest thing from minimalism...

"Design for the present, with an awareness of the past.
The previous generations of craftsmen had timeless taste. Color and finish trends come and go, but some designs stand the test of time. This Hepplewhite dresser is one of them. Circa 1940 this piece was modeled after the original designs of English cabinet maker George Hepplewhite from the 18th century. It has an elegant serpentine front along with the lesser found serpentine sides on the top. True to it's English roots, we chose...
These end tables were very dated and the orange finish was failing. If you remember from a post a few days ago, I ended up removing the entire finish down to bare wood. We also added a plain piece of trim to cover the detail work that was on the front to make them more modern and up to date.
I started the refinishing with two coats of shellac to seal the wood and block the wood tannins from coming through my finish. I still wasn’t sure what direction I was going with these tables but because...
