Milk Paint

"Curved drawers on this Bassett mid century dresser needed something special and unique. General Finishes White Gel Stain gave them a modern whitewash look. Surrounded by an Alabaster Milk painted frame, accented with gold handles and feet creates a simply elegant design."

"You don't always have to create an opaque full coverage look with General Finishes Milk Paint! Take this antique VanSciver hutch for example.   The wood was too beautiful to completely cover up, so I applied a few thin layers of Lamp Black Milk Paint and wiped away the excess. The effect allows the wood to still peek through while providing a new and updated finish."
This commissioned piece was so much fun! She came together really nicely and turned out better than I imagined!   My client wanted something fun that coordinated with a blue desk she currently has in her bedroom so I went with General Finishes milk paint in China Blue. It’s such a rich, gorgeous color!   I’m so thrilled she was willing to have fun and go bold and so I chose IOD - Iron Orchid Designs Wallflower transfer.   New hardware, new legs, and a fun WoodUbend Mouldings...
"This sweet vanity is going home today! It turned out so great. Painted in General Finishes Persian Blue mixed with Perfect Gray and glazed in Van Dyke Brown."
"The Lauren. A secretary with the IT factor! Softly and sweetly brought back to a beautiful life in General Finishes Antique White, with a warm aging glaze and High Performance Flat Finish. Insides had the old lacquer stripped down to bare wood and sealed in my favorite Arm-R-Seal. She took a good amount of time to rebuild those spindled legs, but I definitely think she was worth the wait! Salvaged as much original hardware as she came with, and improvised on the rest!"
"It’s amazing what some fresh paint and stain can do for a really tired finish on a piece of furniture! This table was purchased in 1934 at a Stickley furniture store by my clients great grandmother for her daughter and husband, his grandma and grandpa, as a wedding gift.   The tabletop was stained in General Finishes Candlelight Oil Based Stain and I used Arm-R-Seal oil based topcoat for a durable finish. The base was painted in General Finishes Lamp Black Milk Paint with very...
"Farmhouse look using General Finishes Milk Paint, in Empire Gray, and then lightly distressed. The original, antique brass hardware was spray painted in oil rubbed bronze."
"My first GF project in Ballet Pink. I looooooved working with the paint so much and the finish is outstanding."
"This table has been MONTHS in the making.... I think this client will be absolutely THRILLED that we waited for a solid table with the perfect details for her new home!   "This traditional Paw foot Oak round table has beautiful pressed designs all along the apron... and since she KNEW she wanted a creamy tone with glaze- things just just fell into place when this came to the shop!   Finished in General Finishes Linen Milk Paint with an aged glaze and Matte Finish, the top is...

"Talk about a before-and-after! This rock maple server had good bones and excellent construction. The only problem it has was a dated finish and even more dated hardware. To solve that, I painted it with Coastal Blue Milk Paint by General Finishes and glazed it with Pitch Black Glaze Effects. After adding some oil rubbed bronze cup pulls, it had a new lease on life!"

Use Dark Chocolate Milk Paint by General Finishes to get the look of stain on surfaces that don’t stain well. This baby Jacobean Buffet had a Tulip Poplar top, which does not take stain well. I found a way around that using 2 coats of Dark Chocolate and 2 coats of High Performance Topcoat in Satin.

"Making the most of summer☀️Let’s face it, buying new outdoor (AND indoor) furniture is expensive...keeping it looking good isn’t. Our customer, Donna Herrlich, infused some new life into her bench and rocker with General Finishes China Blue Milk Paint and Exterior 450 Topcoat.   GF Milk Paint is exterior rated! Add Exterior 450 Topcoat for added protection.
"Another gorgeous custom piece finished for a client. We used Lamp Black paint by General Finishes added a light distress and beautiful hardware."
"This beautiful old piece made by “Berkey & Gay furniture” has been done in General Finishes ‘Lamp Black’ and sealed in a matte finish for extra protection. The legs and drawer decal has been stained in Varathane ‘Jacobean.’ The hardware has been cleaned and painted in a metallic finish to give an elegant look."
"Malificent a Magnificent Mantle Mirror. She's ready to adorn a Massive Mantle or be the Crown to a beautiful big buffet! Finished in General Finishes Lamp Black with a wonderful edge distress and matte finish to reveal all of those fantastic details that's sure to fit into todays style!"
"This beauty was refinished with a color wash in General Finishes Lamp black. Hints of the original dark wood intentionally left peaking through for added depth to the finish. I used a 3:1 mix of the Lamp Black & water to create this wash."    Check out GF's full video library for product overview and how-to videos at  http://bit.ly/GFHowToFinishVideos

"Tux. He's a handsome fellow all dressed up in a mod outfit for the occasion! Black tie in General Finishes Lamp Black and bright brass detailing! Alternate satin and matte flat finish give him a moderne yet casual look. Campaign style hardware, and nailhead rivets complete this gent bringing him into today's moderne home.   Tux is a Mid Century Lea Dresser, so he's a blend of solid wood and hardboard. I normally do not work on mixed materials except that he had a wonderful size and shape...
"We just finished up another custom order! This beautiful bedroom suite is painted in General Finishes Persian Blue Milk Paint and glazed with Van Dyke Brown glaze. The top was stained using Antique Walnut Gel Stain."
Sleek and sophisticated in General Finishes Lamp Black Milk Paint.
"This piece was made between 1871 and 1900 because of the beautiful Knapp Joints on the drawers (those cute little scalloped joints in the second pic.) Knapp joints were only used for this short period of time in history. So that would make it between 120-149 years old! How cool is that?!   It is made from all solid Walnut with the exception of the burl veneer on the drawers and door front. I just couldn’t paint this beauty! It was missing it’s top so I made a new wood plank top painted...
"Painted this gorgeous nightstand in Holiday Red with black glaze, and the stripes are painted in Lamp Black. The drawers and sides are decoupaged with beautiful paper from Roycycled Treasures. Topcoated with High Performance in satin finish."

"Wow! What a difference! This was my client’s vision and it turned out amazing! General Finishes Lamp Black Milk Paint and Antique Walnut Gel Stain brought this mid century dresser back to a new beautiful. Those solid brass knobs are stunners."
"My client picked this dresser from my Unfinished Inventory to customize for her daughter. I love that she chose Antique White by General Finishes for the body and Brown Mahogany for the top. Even though it meant more work for me, I suggested stripping the front legs and staining them as well, I love the look and was glad she agreed!"
"This vintage dresser with attached mirror has been painted in General Finishes Lamp Black with the Midnight Floral transfer added to each of the three drawers. It has been given a vintage finish. It has vintage-like crackled flower style hardware added to each drawer. This piece would make a great vintage entryway piece or bedroom piece."

Stunning buffet in General Finishes Lamp Black Milk Paint
"Ladies and Gents, check out this beast we overhauled for a client. Looking best in Blue with General Finishes China Blue, and original brass hardware polished to perfection! High Performance Flat Topcoat for durability. We added 7.5" legs to lift her up off the ground and give that floating chest something to boast about!"
"Gorgeous tv console, entryway table, coffee bar or even a small dresser! The possibilities are endless with this one. Painted in General Finishes Queenstown Gray and sealed in Flat Out Flat. The top was sanded down and stained with a hickory gel stain with high gloss sealer. I cleaned up the hardware and glazed them using GF Pitch Black glaze to give them some depth. The drawers are lined in cute little pattern. She is very old but she’s still sitting pretty!"    Learn more about General...
"Perfect pop of color for an office on this custom order piece. Redesigned in General Finishes Emerald Milk Paint with brass handles brought back to their original shine!"
"This end table was painted in General Finishes Perfect Gray with Smokey Gray Glaze over it for a subtle color contrast. Glaze is always a good way to add a little bit of depth to a piece instead of having one solid color. General Finishes has a few different glaze colors to choose from, depending on the look desired." "A customer's inherited Teak sideboard needed to be updated to fit into their home so it's been given an Art Deco-influenced design which still leaves a fair bit of the original wood on show while transforming its look (a good compromise I think as they wanted it fully painting initially)   It was refinished with GF Milk Paint in Lamp Black and the wood enhanced and protected with Enduro Var Water Based Topcoat in Satin and paint given extra protection with High Performance Topcoat in...

"The only good thing about painting spindles is painting them fun colors! So thankful my client wanted to be brave with these stools that will be at her island in her new kitchen. First we picked the fabric then some fun colors to coordinate. These oak stools were painted in General Finishes Harvest Yellow, Persian Blue and Blue Moon and the three colors look beautiful together!"   Check out GF's full video library for product overview and how-to videos at ...
"This piece is such a cute little nugget!! After a good sanding and cleaning this baby was primed and painted in General Finishes Alabaster Milk Paint and the top drawer was painted in GF Basil. I added some botanical transfers to the front of the bottom 2 drawers and lastly added some gold little legs to match the gold and glass knobs ✨.
"I couldn’t be more pleased with how this project turned out! I have always loved the antique card catalogs but they are crazy hard to find and sooo expensive so I made a new version! It took several hours to turn a this once boring dresser into a faux antique catalogue I painted it in a new General Finishes color called Reverent Gray then aged it to perfection with my chippy paint technique and added Van dyke glaze with a super smooth layer of matte top coat for extra protection!"
"This dresser might look familiar. I had previously refinished it but was thinking of adding legs instead of its boxy base. After awhile I just couldn’t get that thought out of my head so I ended up sawing off the bottom part of the dresser and adding legs. I’m glad I did. The legs just feel right on this. It always seems a little strange to saw a perfectly good piece of furniture but sometimes it is worth it. This is a professionally sprayed finish, there are no brush strokes. The color is...
‘Seagull Gray.’ A planked top has been added and stained in Varathane ‘Jacobean’ and sealed for protection. This gives the perfect farmhouse touch.  Originally hardware has been cleaned and painted.
" 'The Caroline' OH Sweet Caroline. The update she desperately needed... including the salvation of some rare and amazing burl. This lady has been in my shop for over 6 months. I didn't know how I wanted to refresh her until I gently thinned that old lacquer off one door, to reveal a naked natural grain I KNEW we needed to preserve! Since the legs were what I felt was dating it I decided that would be the best place to add some painted details to bring her up to today's standards, without...
"This beautiful Vintage Duncan Phyfe Server has been transformed using General Finishes Ebony Dye Stain and Lamp Black Milk Paint. High Performance Gloss finish and beautiful black and white floral lined drawers and cabinet back complete this one-of-a-kind piece!"
"This 6 drawer antique piece received a full refinish in deep GF Tobacco Water Based Stain.   Stunning hand applied three dimensional raised floral finish added to all 6 drawer fronts with an antique wash of General Finishes Lamp Black on the floral followed by slight hand rubbing of GF Black Gel Stain to "age" and deepen some areas to allow the beautiful wood tones to show through."
