About This Post
"It’s amazing what some fresh paint and stain can do for a really tired finish on a piece of furniture! This table was purchased in 1934 at a Stickley furniture store by my clients great grandmother for her daughter and husband, his grandma and grandpa, as a wedding gift.
The tabletop was stained in General Finishes Candlelight Oil Based Stain and I used Arm-R-Seal oil based topcoat for a durable finish. The base was painted in General Finishes Lamp Black Milk Paint with very intentional distressing around the edges and details. It was sealed with High Performance Topcoat first in satin for extra durability and then a few coats of flat to give my clients the look they wanted.
When I first sent pictures to my clients when it was finished, I got back ‘that’s not the same table!’ Thank you for trusting me with this family heirloom and embracing all of its flaws and wear that show a lifetime of love and use."
