Glaze Effects

"When a great customer loves a piece but needs a different color, you repaint. I did cringe a little because she loves red and I don’t but I have to say it came out amazing. Stepping out of my comfort zone sure did pay off. General Finishes in Holiday Red with Van Dyke Brown Glaze."

"As sad as I am to see Summer come to an end, it is nice sometimes to experience the seasons changing. This cabinet was my clients grandmother’s and she wanted it proudly displayed in her home but it needed updating. Painted in General Finishes Persian Blue with Van Dyke Brown glaze as an ode to its antique history and the top freshly stained in Cabernet."

Autumn Styled Buffet   "This gorgeous buffet is painted in General Finishes Driftwood with lots of layers of neutral glazes (Pitch Black, Winter White, Van Dyke Brown). This versatile piece has 3 deep drawers and 2 super roomy side cabinets with shelves! Sure to make a beautiful addition to your entry way, dining room, or even living space as a media console!"

"This beautiful piece was stripped down to the original finish, sealed and glazed with General Finishes Winter White Glaze Effects!" - Belle Maison

This piece has been painted in General Finishes linen and then glazed in their van dyke brown glaze. The top has been planked, stained, and sealed to protect. There is one drawer which slides well, and one shelf for additional storage. A hole has been precut out of the backing for wiring. This is a super cute, solid piece that would work great for your TV.

I loved the lines of this petite china cabinet but almost didn’t buy it. It was missing a glass panel and shelves and had a couple other things wrong with it. But my friend made me a good deal and challenged me to “make something cool”. Never one to shy away from a challenge, I loaded it in my car. It lingered in my studio for a long time before I knew what to do with it. Taking my cue from the architecture of the piece I decided an Indian inlay look was the way to go. Playing off the...

No question this is a beautiful buffet.  With great carvings and detail work.  And it has it's flaws; although quite minor and cosmetic.

I really wanted to embrace the British Colonial era, and I knew I wanted to focus more on the finish of the body, rather than the center image transfer.

I think, on this piece, the image transfer is secondary.  And because of that, I choose to mute the image.

My aim when working on a piece of furniture is never to make it look '...

The bones of this kitchen are amazing, we just needed to add paint and glaze to make it brighter, and custom to the clients decor. The outer cabinets had Antique white and Van Dyke Brown glaze and the hutch and island had several layers of glaze. And when I say layers, it was 7 and that doesn’t include priming and sealing. Yikes, we sure did need an arm massage at the end of this one!

"Check out this beautiful farmhouse style dresser we refinished for a customer!!!! We painted this in General Finishes Linen Milk Paint with Van Dyke Brown Glaze Effects and sealed in satin top coat then we painted the top in Dark Chocolate Milk Paint and sealed with semi-gloss top coat!!!!" - NB.Restorations

This kitchen underwent an amazing transformation using General Finishes Antique White Milk Paint. The cabinets were sanded and cleaned and prepped to a super smooth finish. Then, starting with hand rolling and brushing the base cabinets and spraying on the paint for the doors and drawer fronts in GF Antique White Milk Paint. Next, topcoating with GF High Performance Topcoat in Satin. After came the depth and detail that was brought out, using the General Finishes Pitch Black glaze. This...

"Beautiful entertainment center up for grabs. This has been painted in Linen by General Finishes and glazed in their Van Dyke Brown Glaze Effects. This used to be a dresser but all the drawers have been removed, shelves have been added, and it’s sealed to protect." - Re-Luv'd Furniture

"Check out this awesome lingerie chest we customized for our customer a couple weeks ago. Loving how it turned out and can’t wait to use this finish again!" - Twig & Thyme Design   This piece was painted with Queenstown Gray Milk Paint lightened with Snow White and then accented with Pitch Black Glaze Effects.

I’m in love with this piece and how the wood grain pops out of the finish.

I painted it in a persian blue than sealed with sanding sealer, applied pitch black glaze and sanded till wood grain appeared.  Than sealed with flat out flat for a perfect matte finish.  Lightly distressed for a farmhouse shabby chic finish.

"This turned into quite the project! Our client took all of these pieces off of an old wardrobe and had them painted to be used as wall art and an artificial fireplace! What a great idea. They turned out absolutely gorgeous! These were done with a mix of Limestone, Seagull Gray, and Antique White Milk Paints by General Finishes, and glazed in Van Dyke Brown Glaze Effects, Slate Gray, and Patina Green." - Painted Paradise, by Duke Interiors and Restoration

Stunning buffet painted with Blue Moon Milk Paint and heavily accented with Pitch Black Glaze Effects.

"This paint is so versatile. General Finishes Milk Paint is my go to for a beautiful smooth clean finish. Now it’s my go to for blended, faded and weathered finishes too. Both the Cotton Stem canvas and vanity were created with General Finishes paint and sealers and a bit of Saltwash additive. The base coat is a blended mix of GF Driftwood, Linen, Halcyon Blue and yellow. When painting the Cotton Stems I added SaltWash to my paint to create some texture. I glazed the entire piece with GF...

"This gorgeous client owned piece was updated using General Finishes Seagull Gray Milk Paint and glazed with Argentine Pearl and Pitch Black Glaze Effects. Gorgeous!! ❤️" - Painted Paradise, by Duke Interiors and Restoration

This antique, solid wood dresser was hand painted in a custom gray made from General Finishes milk paints using a blend of Linen and Driftwood with Pitch Black glaze effects over all those details and crevices. The piece is sealed with multiple layers of High Prformance Top Coat in satin for extra protection. Silver leaf gilding wax adds the final bit of sparkle to give this beauty all the drama it deserves.

This set of nightstands were made from a antique 1930-1940’s vanity. It was almost completely taken apart, cut up by my husband and put back together by me. The set are not identical as some details had been lost over the years. With this set you are truly getting one of a kind nightstands or end tables.

The set was completely striped. Painted gold, then painted black wet distressed, dry distressed, painted gold again and sealed. The tops were stained General Finishes antique walnut...

I was drawn to this dresser because of the combination of drawers and doors. It was covered in layers of sloppily applied paint and I originally just planned to refresh the paint. However, as I was prepping and lightly sanding, I noticed these vertical lines on the drawer fronts coming through the paint. After sanding the drawers more heavily, the wood panels were revealed and my vision began to take shape. I started with a couple of fresh coats of Persian Blue Milk paint. I followed that...

"This commissioned piece was updated using General Finishes Persian Blue Milk Paint, Winter White Glaze Effects, and High Performance Top Coat. The finish was both sprayed with our HomeRight Finish Max Sprayer and rolled with Sherwin-Williams Mohair Rollers for a flawlessly smooth finish! My client loved the original drawer pulls but we were missing one and luckily found some very similar ones from D. Lawless Hardware. All of the hardware was sprayed to match with our favorite Rustoleum...

Another one of Grandpa’s pieces that no one wanted. (Insert sad face.) He had started the process and just needed some help to get this beauty back to her glory. She was in pieces, with the mirror and doors detached, and just hoping everything was there. It was!

Multiple layers of rich color make this antique beauty come to life! A base coat of GF Lamp Black peaks out from under two layers of GF Somerset Gold, showing off each curve and carved details on the drawers and doors of...

How could you cover up that beautiful wood grain?  Their were some pieces of trim that were missing from the doors.  So, after careful reconstruction the doors and frame received two coats of General Finishes Milk Paint in Driftwood followed by Van Dyke Brown Glaze and High Performance Top Coat in Satin.  The wood grain drawer fronts and top surface were sanded down and stained with General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel Stain followed by GF Arm-R- Seal.

Anyone ready for the beach! I know these end tables are! Beach inspired end table are ready to take home. Finished with General Finishes Persian blue then dry brushed with gray and white accent.

"This piece was fully sanded down, cleaned, and washed in General Finishes Linen Milk paint and Van Dyke Brown glaze. It’s been sealed to protect. New label cup pulls have been added and the drawers have been lined in floral paper." - Re-Luv'd Furniture

This Faux wood finish was created by a base coat of Seagull Gray milk paint, dry brushed on Antique Walnut Gel Stain, then a white and brown glaze! I literally made this finish up by getting out all my products out, giving them a good stare for about 30 minutes, then a little trial and error. End result was a happy client!

Those curves just said “armour” to me, so I went with it! A fantastic faux finish to look like galvanized metal. Layers of Driftwood Gray, White Glaze Effects, and Van Dyke Brown bring this dirty, rustic metal feel to life. This end table became the center of attention in a modern farmhouse living room and completed the look with perfection!!

With all of the details on this coffee table I knew I wanted to do something with lots of layers.  First I painted the base in Driftwood Gray, a nice medium gray color.  Next I added a topcoat preparing it for the glaze.  I used pitch black glaze effects to get in all the little areas and make them pop. For the final step I used the Argentine Pearl Effects along with the pitch black glaze to layer a texture on the entire piece.  I used a short stubby brush to pounce the products on the...

This beautiful Thomasville buffet did not sell in its original dated condition. The brass hardware was removed from the back and the top stripped and sanded down to remove all scratches and rings. The top was stained expresso and the body was painted in a rich custom mixed bright turqouise. It was then glazed with GF pitch black glaze and crumpled bags were used to get the faux effect. The entire piece was topcoated with GF High Performance Topcoat in flat. The result is an updated buffet/...

The elegant curves of these quaint end tables is contrasted by the rustic look of the faux barnwood tops, creating a versatile charm perfect for any decor.

They are painted in a gorgeous midnight blue - a custom mix of General Finishes Coastal Blue and Lamp Black Milk Paint. A light accent using Pitch Black Glaze and a little extra gold wax on the hardware finished off their elegant makeover." - Kristin's Krazy Garage, LLC

This antique secretary was lovely as is, just a bit dated. With the faux barnwood finish, I was able to give it a fresh new look that perfectly complements my clients space!

"I'm a sucker for the curves of French Provincial pieces. This lady was painted for a client using a custom mix of General Finishes Milk Paint in Driftwood and Linen using a 2:1 ratio. The body was glazed with GF Pitch Black Glaze Effects for a streaky finish. The top was darkened by adding some Lamp Black to the paint mix and then streaked with the glaze.
