About This Post
My client contacted me about redo'ing this piece of furniture for his wife as a surprise for her birthday. Her grandfather used this piece as his tool/work bench. I loved the story and was determined to make it beautiful again, so I gave it a lot of TLC. I ended up stripping the whole thing about 5 times to get years of stain and grime off of it. It was also breaking in areas due to the weight of the heavy tools, so those areas needed fixing. After that, I cleaned and sealed it really well. We decided to let the beautiful wood grain show, so I did not use a stain on it, instead I just sealed the wood really well with GF HPTC, in flat. The base was painted it with GF Lamp Black to make the wood "pop". The top had a mirrored ledge attached to it that I took off and also restored to make it look like the bottom. I transformed it into a hanging wall shelf to go over top of the piece. In the last picture, you can see the set up. It's the first piece they see when they come in from their garage. It sits in their mud room and they use it as a folding table for their laundry. <3 I'm so glad it's actually being used and loved!
