"This beautiful piece went home today, and I couldn’t be more excited with how it turned out. It was a family heirloom; I’m so grateful for the opportunity to give it a new look. Awesome dresser restyle with General Finishes Brick Red Milk Paint

"Look at all that blue yumminess! This big dresser was beautiful knotty pine to begin with but I thought it could use a little facelift. It’s been painted with a custom blue using General Finishes Snow White, Antique White, Coastal Blue and Federal Blue. Federal Blue is a discontinued color, that I absolutely love, but I happened to find some several months ago and have been squirreling it away. Silly right? I decided it was time to break it open! The wash is Antique White and I custom mixed...

Stained shims really added some much needed texture to this boring flat front dresser.  A mixture of General Finishes Queenstown and Lamp Black with High performance flat topcoat. Shims stained in Antique walnut.

COLOR RECIPE

  • 1 part Queenstown
  • 1 part Lamp Black

The  Southern Hills coffee table features a two-tone white and weathered driftwood finish.

The top was custom made with new wood cut and attached in a herringbone pattern.

The detailed cut-out apron and elegant turned legs were painted in Antique White. The herringbone top was given a wash with diluted driftwood paint. Antique white was then dry brushed over the top, creating a refined rustic look.

This dresser was ugly, drab and boring. Can you imagine feeling ugly, drab and boring and then you add a little lipstick, mascara, gloss and Nars bronzer (gold leaf) and just be walking around looking sunkissed for all the world to see? Yup...calling this piece Nars. Clean, sleek and artsy fartsy.

2018 GF Design Challenge - Upcycling Merit Categories›Barnwood Chic›Runner Up

This pantry door was SO FUN to paint... and it was also for my own kitchen (YAY!) so I could reallly get creative with it! It’s actually “half” of a French door set that I found at our local Habitat ReStore.... and what do you know, it was the EXACT size of our pantry door... easy swap!!!

It all started with a coat of “Costal Blue”... I was going to distress and stop there... but since I was keeping it for myself, I decided to have a little bit of fun!  I started getting carried away...

This antique secretary was lovely as is, just a bit dated. With the faux barnwood finish, I was able to give it a fresh new look that perfectly complements my clients space!

Any French Provincial piece is stunning on it's own but adding paints and glazes can bring out its curves and details!  After looking at this piece for sometime as it took up the majority of space in our dining room I finally decided on breaking out of the norm of the white distressed base with a stained top and went for blends and washes of different grays. Everyone in the house was happy that a decision was finially made and I was no longer second guessing my decision!

COLOR...

Fun and functional, this Mid-Century three drawer dresser pops with color and style! It was rescued from a bike repair shop, found when looking at another piece of furniture. It was in pieces and had extensive damage. It was painted in a very safe grey and black, but was virtually ignored for months so another makeover was due! Multiple colors were used to create a mod geometric pattern reminiscent of this era. The entire piece is covered in the best top coat on the market, General Finishes...

Fun and bright end tables in GF Coral Crush Milk Paint

"I'm a sucker for the curves of French Provincial pieces. This lady was painted for a client using a custom mix of General Finishes Milk Paint in Driftwood and Linen using a 2:1 ratio. The body was glazed with GF Pitch Black Glaze Effects for a streaky finish. The top was darkened by adding some Lamp Black to the paint mix and then streaked with the glaze. The entire piece is sealed with High Performance Topcoat for a satin finish. Last but not least the pulls were freshened up in silver...

"Hello Camilla! A French Country Glam dream. This vintage server has been refinished in GF Antique White, Snow White and highlighted in brown and white glazes. Beautiful cobalt blue floral decoupage brings charming sophistication to this ornate piece. Stunning crystal and sapphire blue hardware have been added." - Revive In Style

"This client owned piece recently received a major overhaul. The ornate style just wasn’t working for her... not to mention failing veneer and missing decorative accents.   My challenge, create a simpler yet elegant piece of furniture.   As beautiful as ornate pieces can be, sometimes there is a bit too much going on. Ornamentation should compliment a piece, not distract from its beauty. I chose to accentuate the beautiful carved wood accents.   General Finishes Linen Milk...

"We thought we would bring you this bright and cheery piece!! This beautiful Bassett dresser is painted in a custom mix of General Finishes Patina Green and Snow White Milk Paints. Tell us what you think of us doing some brighter colors for spring!" - Belle Maison

"I get a little bit attached to every single piece I refinish. Sometimes that attachment runs deep, like this bench. I built this bench and then stained the seat in General Finishes Brown Mahogany Gel Stain and painted the rest Antique White. When it was complete I put it in my foyer just to see how it would look and I realized it will not be going anywhere! I can’t keep them all, but this one is staying in my home." - Flipping Unbelievable

"My Minimalist Coffee Table is finally complete. This one took much longer than my usual projects for many reasons. My original vision was derailed after I wasn't able to strip it completely of the horrid paint. I decided to try my hand at wood graining for the first time and I'm in love. No more excuses for not being able to achieve a wood look for me anymore. I also did some faux wood graining with paint on the side panels as well. I had painted it white first but it was too stark of a...

"I think these may be a new favorite of mine. How cute is this set of night stands? These have been painted in General Finishes Driftwood, glazed in their Winter White, and sealed to protect. New crystal knobs have been added. The top was sanded down and dry brushed in Driftwood and Winter white." - Re-Luv'd Furniture

"Solid wood vintage vanity or desk finished in General Finishes Driftwood with base of Limestone on the 7 drawers. The hand painted buffalo check has both colors, plus a touch of Queenstown Gray. The stripped and sanded top was finished with a rustic stain. Heavily distressed for a time-worn feel." - GarageMama Vintage

"Since I can't go to Morocco I'll pretend I'm there with this dresser. I painted it in General Finishes Klein Blue, Key West Blue, and Patina Green. I used redesign with prima's patchwork stencil. The surface has been given a luminescent sheen with redesign with prima decor wax in element and milky way. I created my own shimmery glazes with mica powers and general finishes top coat in satin. I also added a touch of ruby icing paste. You can watch video tutorials on my page of how I created...

"Here's a super cute antique writing desk that's been refinished in a black wash using General Finishes Lamp Black and stained top. I think this would be a great piece for an entry way as a place to stash your keys and mail, and plenty of room beneath to store hats and gloves,(and by the way where did I put that other mitten?!) Of course, perfect as a desk or vanity." - 100 Thousand Welcomes Painted Furniture and Decor

"Becoming a big brother is full of excitement and change. So, when my client, Lindsay decided to revamp her son's new "big boy" room, she wanted to make it special for him. She chose General Finishes Coastal Blue to compliment the decor for his space. This shade of navy is playful enough for a child and sophisticated enough for a young man, which makes it the perfect shade to grow with him and his decor for many years to come." - Ruthie's Restorations
