This door has been refinished with 1 coat of General Finishes Burnt Umber Water Based Enduro Ready-To-Match Stain with 2 coats of General Finishes Water Based Enduro-Var II Topcoat, Gloss.
Hard maple. Color: RTM Custom Color #130 1:1 ratio used
Staining Process: I used a wiped on method of dipping a shop towel that was kind of bunched up to a round point, using consistent pressure and moving with the grain. I used a feathered edge while working on the long boards. I then immediately went back and did a second coat using the same method. I was working under almost ideal conditions of 70F and 50% humidity.
Topcoat: First coat was original Enduro Var I had purchased last year...
"This lovely mid century Beautility sideboard is a great shape but needed some updating and quite a bit of cleaning (!) to make it a stand out piece of modern furniture.
So what did we do:
Full clean and sand to remove any residual varnish/wax - the inside needed much more work than the outside to get it looking clean and fresh
The sliding doors didn't actually come out as they do in other pieces so to make sure I could prep and paint the design properly, I cut them out and then...
