Restored Table with Java and Antique Walnut Gel Stain

About This Post

"I picked this little table up months ago. The top was in pieces & had chunks of wood missing. I was going to build a new top but thought I'd try to repair it first. I reglued, used Bondo to rebuild the side & reattached the top. I opted not to paint this piece for many reason & I'm so glad I listened to the piece. I used General Finishes gel stains in Java & Antique Walnut. Painting it on & wiping it back off lightly on the base. Leaving the stain in the low parts for contrast. The previous finish was pretty much gone so after cleaning thoroughly & lightly going over with a fine sanding block it soaked up the gel stain. I did a 50/50 Shellac/Denatured alcohol on the top for conditioning. Then where I used Bondo I used a artist brush to paint Java on the Bondo. Let it dry & did a coat of Antique Walnut on the top. Arm-R-Seal will make it even more beautiful!" - Rehab to Fab
