About This Post
The china cabinet is the second piece to the Art Deco customer owned set. It shares the dining room with the bar and was done in the same General Finishes Antique White with Candlelight stain and High Performance Top Coat in satin.
We used the same updated champagne gold hardware on this piece as the bar except for the glass door where the customer wanted something a little different. These absolutely gorgeous champagne colored glass knobs were what they fell in love with and what a beautiful choice! These are true glass and so heavy and opulent and just perfect for updating this Art Deco piece.
Normally, I would remove the back of a cabinet to access the inside easily to refinish but the way this piece was constructed would have required deconstructing the entire thing to get the back off. It was a first for me and made painting and staining a little tricky but we got it done.
The star of this china cabinet is the fretwork insert in the door. I absolutely LOVE the design and it was in such great condition. In my experience, I have yet to see a piece with this type of fretwork intact, so this was super special. And turned out beautifully with the fresh stain.
Like the bar, there was a lot of restoration needed on this piece and saving the beautiful veneer was tricky. But seeing it completed made it so worth the effort and I just love how this pretty thing turned out.
