The builder grade oak cabinets are original to the home which was built in 2007. Solid cabinets so there’s no reason to rip them out when I knew I could transform them.
Prep is ESSENTIAL to ANY transformation! I removed all the doors, hardware and hinges. I normally use TSP but was out so I used my 2nd favorite cleaner, ‘Greased Lightning’. You name it, it gets it off! I scrubbed them and used a tooth brush in the corners where nearly a decade worth of gunk was in. I rinsed them...

Loving this stenciled dresser from Refresh Living!
"For this dresser, I used General Finishes Milk Paint in Driftwood Gray. It took two coats of paint. I also painted the inside of the drawer compartments. It’s pretty simple to paint the inside of shelves by brushing in the corners and edges, and then rolling the bases and sides. Now we have the perfect storage area for all of the beach stuff at our little lake house." (Which happens to be in GF's neck of the woods :) !)
Jenny of Rustic Roots made over this buffet with General Finishes Empire Gray Chalk Style Paint. Bottom painted in General Finishes Chapin Gray Chalk Style Paint which is similar to an off white with a pale grey undertone, just a touch of distressing for character and then sealed with General Finishes HPTC flat. New hardware...

"For the body of this dresser, I painted it in Slate Gray Chalk Style Paint. I’ve used quite a few brands of “chalk paint” before, and I definitely liked the General Finishes version. It’s a little less thick than others, which I actually prefer, and it went on super smooth. The finish also seems stronger than other chalk paints, so I left it as-is for now. I may decide later to add some furniture wax or flat acrylic, but I’d like to see how it hold ups up without a finish. I think this is...
