Lamp Black

"Custom shelving and top in a gorgeous bleached natural wood finish provide a stunning contrast to the General Finishes Lamp Black finish. Entire piece fully sealed with General Finishes flat finish. The bottom 2 drawers were kept for concealed storage. Paper lined and simple black hardware keep with its streamlined look. Stunning as an alternative to a "closed" buffet but also works as a media piece or even in a home office setting." - Raised Expectations
"We had this Uber ugly Thomasville buffet base….. it was a China cabinet and we ditched the top completely. We pulled off all that scrolly trim and sanded out every square inch of that body. Up on 4” steel feet for the needed height. Voila! There she is! General Finishes Millstone in a wash to neutralize that oak! GF Lamp Black on the doors. Sealed in High Performance Topcoat satin." - Restoration Reserve
"A whole lotta work went into this before & after! Top was gross shiny laminate so I made a new one with lathe strips stained in Early American. Added trim to the drawer fronts to accommodate twenty new pieces of hardware. Painted in layers of General Finishes Perfect Gray, Lamp Black and glaze, then distressed to give the finish some depth and texture." - Elm Street Designs
"Joy to the World! A super, simple, thrifted, holiday decor idea!! I made my stencil for this project, using my Cricut machine. I clear coated the globe first then once dried, I place the stencil on and clear coated again. Once that dried, I painted on the message (two coats). I chose my favorite, go-to black by General Finishes called Lamp Black. Once that dried, I put on another clear coat of GF water based High Performance Topcoat." - REmade
"Purchased this cabinet from an old medical supply store. It’s solid wood and just awesome but needed some TLC. The top wasn’t attached and was split into two pieces. It was missing a back and the sides had about 157 nails in them.   Built a new top with a mosaic pattern and stained in walnut. Sides had wood lathe planks added. New base with metal feet were added. Painted in General Finishes Lamp Black and slightly distressed."    S

Sometimes furniture holds memories of times and people and those are the pieces we treasure the most. And I’m happy and honored to paint this piece for my client that now she will keep in her home and...

"I have wanted to try this technique for awhile, and finally decided to give it a go on this beautiful solid maple dresser. I love how the black legs coordinate with the antique brass drawer pulls. Yes, it definitely can be ok to mix metal finishes even on the same piece! Top: Maple with a custom tan wash and whitewash. Base and Drawers: General Finishes Lamp Black" - Sarah Bezanson Interiors
"As part of our living room makeover this antique dresser chest from the 1800’s that I love so much got a little makeover of its own!   From the day I found this piece a few years ago I haven’t done anything to it, I loved it as is. But the new color tones of our living room left it looking very orange so I knew it needed a little updating and I am very happy with its new look in our new space.  Be sure to check out the before in the comments below!   Keeping with its antique look I...

"This set is sooo nice and it’s made out of solid maple! When I purchased this set it was finished in a very dated orange wood color and had ugly hardware…So I got rid of all the ugly! I gave the set a whole new look by painting the bases in General Finishes Lamp black and refinished the tops in GF Graystone Water Based Wood Stain then added new hardware to complete the new look!" - NB.Restorations
"I started this one by sanding the gloss off and giving it an uneven wood look by sanding some areas more than others. I wanted to give this piece an elegant style but still keep a rustic farmhouse look. I used a stain and paint combo. I hand painted light coats of General Finishes Lamp Black, distressing in between each coat. My final coat was a black/brown glaze I made with my seal, paint and stain." - ReFabulous Finds by Christina
"Painted in General Finishes Lamp Black (she's more black than she appears), lightly distressed, and sealed in GF High Performance Topcoat in satin followed by Flat Out Flat Topcoat, this piece is timeless." - Red Geranium Restorations
The piece was originally a dated orange color pine dresser…My original plan was to strip it down and finish it in a natural wood look but the wood didn’t look how I wanted it to so instead I decided would give it a very worn black finish! I painted it in General Finishes Lamp Black the gave the piece a heavy distressing to make it look 100 years old then sealed it up in matte top coat and added all new hardware to give it the card catalog look then added a set of metal legs to give the piece...
"Lately it seems like all I paint is black…but I’m okay with that because it’s such a great color! My client wanted this dresser in Lamp Black by General Finishes. I had to do a lot of stripping to remove the previous paint job which was not properly prepped and covered in thick brush strokes. Once I had that finish removed and made a mold for the missing trim, it was ready for primer and paint! I love how this one turned out." - Flipping Unbelievable

"This one turned out sooo beautiful! I love how the black looks with the original marble and brass bar on this mid 1800s piece!! "Refinishing this piece was an honor for me. Tragically this family heirloom was damaged in a fire with heavy smoke damage. After some serious cleaning and removing and replacing some pieces I gave her a beautiful update using General Finishes Lamp Black. "Sometimes pieces really put me thru my paces but when they turn out this beautiful, it is worth it! Originally discussed staining the entire piece but after painstakingly removing the top layer of veneer on the top of the dresser that was pretty severely damaged, we realized the wood underneath was not pretty and no matter how much sanding I did, it did not look good stained so we pivoted and decided to paint the frame and stain the drawers. Painted in General Finishes Lamp Black and stained...

"I loved how this piece turned out sooo much that I’m keeping it for myself to use in our newly renovated basement lounge that I’ll be sharing with you all soon! This piece was inspired by the Arhaus Finley sideboard which is priced at $3,000! When I saw a short curved end cabinet on Facebook marketplace I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it! It was in pretty rough shape…I had to rebuild the skirting on the bottom and I added 10” mid century style legs which really helped with the height...
