"We could not part with this old French hutch top. Our daughter took the bottom. Bring to short, we built 2 new drawers on a deck and attached the old top. We added 5 new bun feet and painted it Empire Gray from the GF Chalk Style paint line. We then added weathered grey stain over the top to bring the tones together. "This week, I was lucky enough to try General Finishes new chalk paint line. I mixed half part Black Pepper to half part Empire Gray and created a gorgeous deep gray/almost black hue. While drying, I dabbed the black onto my brush to basically streaked it over the deep gray. I only lightly brushed over the detailed sides to highlight the design and then used 220 grit sandpaper to distress it. The whole piece was easily sealed in General Finishes Flat Out Flat topcoat.
