"This piece came to me as quite a mess... the wallpaper inside the hutch would have been a big hurdle on its own but include that with the 5 layers of paint underneath it, the random can lid that was permanently adhered inside the lower cabinet and the tacks on almost every shelf under all the paint. I didn't really know what I was getting into but I got into it pretty darn quick. It took over two weeks of sanding, peeling wallpaper, scraping chemicals off on repeat to get it to a point that...

"This set may have been one of the most difficult in how many steps it took to create and how much time I spent on it, but I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. I used General Finishes Gel Stains (Java, Ash Gray, American Oak) along with New Pine that was mixed with Mixol tints. Greens, blue, and violets got me to the perfect colors!" - Greg's Boards and More

I stained the top with General Finishes Ash Grey and painted the body with House and Canvas Rich Navy. Topcoated with Varathane polyacrylic in Satin. The paint was so easy to apply and I may have found a trick for applying topcoat! Was also my first time trying General Finishes and will be getting more stains soon. The handles were Franklin Brass adjusta pull handles.

"The wood is brich. I used mineral spirit right before applying the gel stain. Applied 2 coats of Ash Gray Gel Stain with disposable shop cloths (the blue ones). Sealed with Gel Satin Topcoat. I am not a person who works in the renovation field. I am an elementary teacher from the suburb of Montreal Canada. I benefited from your educationnal videos on your YouTube channel. Thank you!" - Annie Larivee

"Solid maple wood buffet. This gorgeous buffet was not always quite this stunning. After a good cleaning and some elbow grease, I sanded the top down to the original wood and stained it in General Finishes Ash Gray Gel Stain. For the body, I chose General Finishes Alabaster, a beautiful mix of Antique White and Snow White. The hardware also got a fresh look in antique bronze. The edges were given a light distressing for that worn, antiqued effect." - Ray's Refurbishing

Gorgeous desk in General Finishes Seagull Gray Milk Paint and Ash Gray Gel Stain.
"Made with maple, ash, and white oak hardwood, this solid dresser/changing table will last through the years as the child grows up. Since it was made with real wood, the color can be changed to stay relevant with the times.   One big benefit of a custom piece of furniture is that it can be designed with dimensions to fit a particular space. This dresser was constructed a little taller than a normal three drawer dresser to make diaper changing a little easier for the parents, who both...
"I was trying to achieve the “Restoration Hardware” look. What do you think? This coffee table was sanded back to almost bare and then I applied General Finishes Gel Stain in Ash Gray. My first time using that color but will not be my last!" -

I also used General Finishes gel stain in Ash Gray for the top. I love love love this gray stain! Every other gray stain I’ve tried has gone on blue. This one actually went on a warm gray and neutralized the red orange mahogany. I will definitely be looking for more pieces to use this stain.

Comparison of Carbon Gray and Ash Gray Gel Stain vs. Graystone and Graphite Water Based Wood Stain Vs. Driftwood Milk Paint

"I'm really pleased with how this trunk came out. Our customer picked it out of our warehouse and wanted to keep the mid-century vibe with some wood showing. She picked the new General Finishes Carbon Gray Gel Stain & GF China Blue for the base.   Gray can be tricky for older woods. The top came out nicely, but the other areas struggled to take any stain - totally normal, as they probably weren't the same cut of wood. I used a mix of Fusion Mineral Paint Ash and Clear Glaze to tone...

"Woo! She’s finally done! This desk has been a long time coming considering it’s been at least 4 months since I bought it and at least 6 weeks since I started it. She may not have landed where I had envisioned but in the end I’m happy with how she turned out.I painted this piece up in Paint Couture Paint Company Angelic and General Finishes Ash Gray Gel Stain."

NEW Ash Gray Gel Stain

"I’m all over the map when it comes to style. Today is MCM. My eclectic style is why General Finishes works for me. It doesn’t lock me in to a look and is so reliable. When I approached this dresser I was sure it was laminate. As I started to sand it down, gorgeous wood was revealed. I lightly applied General Finishes new color, Ash Gray Gel Stain and sealed with General Finishes High Performance Topcoat."
