Hope Chest Refinished with Arm-R-Seal

About This Post

"I picked up this hope chest so many months ago and it sat all alone in our garage. I felt so bad not giving it any attention but I had so many other projects to focus on. Luckily last week one of my favorite customers asked if I had a Hope Chest on hand....DING! There it is. So I pulled this poor lost soul out and started cleaning her up! The top and all four sides were completely sanded down. The veneer looked like it had amazing potential so I knew I had to do my best to preserve it. Unfortunately there was some lifting and chips along the top surface edges so I had to come up with a plan to cover and repair that damage but keep the original look intact. I decided to create a black trim along each top side and then add a stencil with Dixie Belle Paint Company Metallics to tie in with the wood grain. I also painted the trim, base moldings, feet and vertical trim in black chalk paint. Everything was them distressed and sealed. The wood was clear coated with several coats General Finishes Arm-R-Seal Oiled Based Satin Polyurethane. Once that was applied all I saw was that AMAZING Veneer. It literally came to life" - Steener's Attic Refinished, Repurposed and Antique Furniture   Learn more about how to apply GF Arm-R-Seal in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7jvnM2PX0E
