About This Post
Restoring an Eastlake has been on my furniture bucket list and bringing the life back into this family heirloom for our client was a dream!
Circa 1870-1890, Eastlake furniture is marked by geometric shapes and simple lines, much different from the flamboyant Victorian styles of that era.
The dresser came to us having previously been slightly refinished. The top, small drawers, had been refinished in a cherry stain that didn’t match the rest of the piece, hardware had been changed and had a couple of broken casters.
After removing the finish, I stained the entire piece using Antique Oak Water Based Stain by General Finishes, replaced the casters with vintage ones found on eBay, and replaced all hardware with Eastlake style pulls.
