Gray Gel Stained Table

About This Post

CU Woodshop Supply & School of Woodworking shared this project from their customer Hillary S.   "Hillary is new to the area and wanted to make a new table for her new home. A CU Woodshop Associate helped her pick the yellow pine boards. They were cut, glued, and sanded in our shop. Using a foam brush, she applied a coat of General Finishes Gray Gel Stain to the bottom and sides of the table top. After applying the gel stain, Hillary used a soft cotton cloth to wipe off the excess stain. After allowing the gel stain to dry completely, she gently sanded the surface and applied the second coat of gel stain. This took three coats. She flipped the piece over and repeated the steps on the tabletop. After the gel stain dried, she used a water-based polyurethane, applying it liberally with a foam brush to the top of the table. She did this for 4 coats."
