Stained and sealed wooden tops offer a nice contrast, while a fresh coat of paint on the original hardware completes the updated look." - Refined Relics

"I really just started refinishing about 7 months ago... I fell in love with it.  So when I spotted this MCM piece, I knew I had to attempt this!!! Started with a plain brown MCM sideboard!  I wasn't sure if I should paint it at first but after doing some research, I decided to.  I first painted the outer parts of the drawers black but didn't like the way it was turning out so I ordered General Finishes Milk Paint in Driftwood and BOOM!  PERFECT contrast!  I sanded down the top of the piece...

I was given this 100+ yr old Burl wood piano by some friends.  I loved it and hoped it could be tuned and fixed for my kids to enjoy.  After having a tuning professional check it out I was informed it would never play again.  He said to go ahead and trash it :( This beauty was never going to be headed to a landfill.  She was pretty just sitting there as is.  I decided she would be even better converted into a wine bar.  I removed the Harp, keys, strings and all the hundreds of pins.  Once...

This classic Hepplewhite buffet was redesigned in a deep, rich gray  -  Queenstown Gray Milk Paint by General Finishes. I have been trying out this line of paint and have been very happy with how it goes on and distresses. I rubbed back the paint to allow some of the original wood to show and the contrast is lovely. The top was sanded down and re-stained in General Finishes Java Gel Stain and finished with their Semi-Gloss Top Coat.

The inside of the drawers and cabinets are painted...

"I just love when a piece allows me to showcase the original wood. Leaving a little of it exposed, while simultaneously modernizing some of the piece with paint, creates the perfect marriage of vintage and modern. These end tables/nightstands had the perfect legs for this two toned look.

The tables were painted in General Finishes Driftwood milkpaint. The legs were stained in General Finishes Antique Walnut gel stain. The tables feature new flower knobs and fabric lined drawers. They...
