About This Post
Jen's Furniture Rehab says, "This dresser and bed set have to be one of my all time favorite refinishing projects!! I don't have a great "before" pic, and I really wish I had a picture of the damage the top of the dresser had before I got my hands on it. Something like perfume or fingernail polish remover had been spilt on it, and caused some nasty damage to the original finish. I stripped that off, and sanded to bare before applying a single coat of General Finishes Java Gel Stain which I then sealed with GF High Performance Flat Top Coat. The flat surfaces of the headboard and footboard received the same treatment. I chose a custom mix navy blue made with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan in Graphite and Napoleonic Blue for the body of the dresser, as well as the details of the bed and rails. I sealed the paint with clear wax, and antiqued it with a good helping of dark wax. The vintage crystal pulls really pop against the deep azure hue!!"
