Chippy Green Buffet

About This Post

2016 Design Challenge Entry - Pro Upcycled Furniture

"This beautifully layered buffet was accomplished by using only General Finishes products. I created the base coat by mixing the farmhouse green color that consists of GF Milk Paint in Basil, Dark Chocolate, Emerald, and Linen. I then dry brushed on some Buttermilk Yellow. The last coat of paint was a 50/50 mixture of the farmouse green and Antique White. I used the vaseline method of distressing to achieve the chippy look and many hand numbing hours of sanding with 400 grit sandpaper. After that I used GF Van Dyke Brown Glaze to age the paint and to add more dimension. The top of the buffet was stained with GF Antique Walnut Gel Stain. The last step was 2 coats of GF High Performance Poly in Flat. Lots of steps to achieve this look, but I wanted it to look like an old piece of funiture that had been painted many times and the paint was worn and chippy from age in all the right places. I hope you love it as much as I do! "
